The new wicketed produce bag-labeling machine can handle plain, gusseted or zip lock produce bags as well as apply a second label (merchandizing) during the same machine cycle. It can be easily customized for a particular sized plastic bag required by a produce item (apples, potatoes, carrots, leafy greens, and citrus etc.) and/or a required label location. The machine will allow packers to use existing automatic bag filling equipment. The label, either paper or plastic, could be imprinted with any or all of the following time sensitive information: SSI-EID code, RFID code, PIDC code or PO release, Julian Date, Lot Number, Military or Standard Time, PLU or Commodity code, Company Name, Country and State of Origin, Harvest Crew or Member ID, and Certification, pull date from store shelf, best before date and sustainability issues. This machine will minimize the labor costs associated with meeting today's need for food safety and product traceability.
